Day 50: Cycling and torn rotator cuffs

22 02 2010

After Saturday’s 10.5 mile ride, I’ve discovered that the past six weeks of physical therapy has not helped much with my rotator cuff and tendinitis issue. Funny how you don’t realize how often you use a body part until it’s injured. I’m rather discouraged and frustrated at this point. I was taking some photos yesterday at a family gathering and realized I’m still encountering pain when carrying my camera equipment. And yesterday’s equipment bag was fairly light compared to others I’ve used in the past. Being unable to do my two favorite hobbies without pain is starting to piss me off.

Physically, I’m nowhere near where I should be to be prepared for a century later this year. By March I had planned to have a couple good months of base training behind me. I’m not even close.

Tomorrow I return for another session of PT. This time for the thrapist to determine what comes next in the therapy plan and when I can expect a return to normal.

Today’s starting weight: 152 (payback for being bad yesterday).

Food journal:

Breakfast:
— Organic whole wheat English muffin with Nutella = 294 cal.

Lunch:
— Reduced fat PB&J on whole wheat = 398
— Fat free chocolat pudding cup = 60

Dinner:
— Turkey sandwich = 280
— Iced tea = 10

Snacks:
— Yogurt = 140
— Fat free chocolate pudding = 60

Thanks for visiting. See you tomorrow.
