Day 51: Over the hill

23 02 2010

Apparently once you turn 40, you start to fall apart. At least that seems to be the way my 40th year is going.

I learned today I have at least four more physical therapy sessions to look forward to. Yipee. AND my therapist told me to stay off the bike until my shoulder is healed. Whenever that will be. I’m not making much progress toward being ready for my century ride later this year. I hope, though, that I’ll be good as new soon and can start training and still be able to do the century before the season is over. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

I read about another cycling app for the iPhone today: Cyclemeter. It appears similar to the iMapMyRide app that I’ve been using, but some features on Cyclemeter that I’m excited about:

— Track your progress
— Map your route with real-time markers that compare your current ride against your best, median, and worst rides
— Google maps to share via Twitter
— Save iPhone battery life by using the phone’s sleep button (most apps stop running when you do this, although the iMapMyRide app does have it’s own sleep button)

I’m downloading it tonight and will post a review once I’m back on the bike and able to try it out.

Today’s starting weight: 152
