Day 67: Nutrition data on LoseIt app

I learned something new this week. The LoseIt iPhone app that I use to track the food I eat, also has a feature that allows me to see what total percentage of that day’s (or that week’s) food is fat, carbs and protein. (I never noticed this feature before until now). In addition, the total cholesterol and sodium is also listed. This has been both eye-opening and horrifying. I know I need help with my diet, but seeing “in print” (so to speak) how much of my daily intake is fat and carbs and how little is protein is pretty frightening. As an example, here is a screenshot summary of today’s food (other details are included below):

So 50 percent of my daily diet (today, anyway) is carbs and 38 percent is fat. Not to mention the 2,837 mg of sodium. Holy crap! It just goes to show that even though I may be staying within my daily calorie allowance, it doesn’t mean it’s healthy food. I need to rethink this whole thing. I’ve considered meeting with a registered dietitian to get some help with meeting my goals. Have any of you met with a dietitian? If so, was it helpful? 

Today’s starting weight: 150 

Breakfast:
— Chocolate, peanut butter, banana smoothie = 385 cal. 

Lunch:
— Grilled cheese sandwich on wheat = 431
— Small bag Rold Gold pretzels = 230
— Iced tea = 0 

Dinner:
— Grilled chicken sandwich = 262
— Iced tea = 0 

Snack:
— Fat free chocolate pudding cup = 60
