Day 86: Rear-wheel mounted cycle computer

30 03 2010

I’m on a quest for a reliable, but preferrably inexpensive cycle computer that can be mounted on the rear chainstay. I have a front fork-mounted wireless computer that I use each time I ride, but when I train indoors it will only work on the rollers. It won’t work on the stationary trainer since the front wheel remains fixed. I’d like to be able to track my mileage when I’m on the stationary trainer.

Do any of you have any suggestions? I couple people in one of the local bike groups recommended the Cateye Strada Cadence. I’d prefer to not spend much more than $50 if possible. Less is even better, since I really will only need it occasionally. Any advice or suggestions are appreciated. I’d like to buy one before our 100 Miles to Nowhere ride on May 8.

Breakfast:
— Organic low-fat vanilla yogurt = 170 cal.
