Day 103: Ride safe

16 04 2010

When I drive to and from work each day, I’ve often wished I could afford to have thousands of headlights, taillights and helmets in the backseat of my car to hand out to cyclists who ride without those accessories. I could simply stop my car, hand them whatever necessary item (at no cost to them), wish them a safe ride and be on my way.

I frequently see people riding during early morning or evening hours wearing dark clothing and having no reflectors or lights on their bike (and often no helmet, either). Every time I carefully pass them, I can’t help but think to myself, “They should have a light and helmet.”

Who knew a simple “get a light” comment would cause some nutjob to beat the crap out of you like this guy found out.

There are way too many grumpy, angry people in the world. Ride safe!
