Day 125: 50 Miles of Monotony

8 05 2010

Today’s post will be short. Carrick and I each rode 50 miles today (actually she rode 65) for the 100 Miles to Nowhere ride. I lost count of how many total laps we made around the cemetery near our house (the perimeter of the cemetery is about 1.3 miles). I’ll have a detailed post with photos and video tomorrow, but tonight, I’m going crash on the couch. I’m happy to have made my 50 mile goal. It took me a little over 4 hours. Not bad for my longest ride to date. If I step on the scale in the morning and it shows I didn’t lose any weight, then I’m throwing it through the window.

Today’s food journal:

Breakfast:
— Chocolate, peanut butter and banana smoothie = 385 cal.

Snack (at mile 20):
— Chocolate Mint Builder Bar = 270

Lunch (at mile 30):
— PB&J sandwich on whole wheat = 398
— Low-fat chocolate milk = 180

Snack (at mile 40):
— 1 banana = 105
— Small glass of Vitamin Water Zero = 0

Dinner (after the ride):
— Black bean quesadilla on spinach tortilla = 577
— Iced tea = 0

Snack:
— Skinny Cow cookies & cream ice cream cup = 120

Exercise:
— 50 mile bike ride at 12 mph average for 4 hours, 14 minutes = 1,508 calories burned (WOW! If I could do that several days a week I might actually start to lose some weight!)

Stay tuned tomorrow for more details on the 100 Miles to Nowhere Ride. I enjoyed it but I’m glad it’s over. Next year I plan to be in shape to do the full 100 miles.

Life is a journey. Enjoy the ride!
