Day 130: Ride of Silence is May 19

13 05 2010

The worldwide Ride of Silence starts at 7:00 p.m., May 19 in the U.S. The ride is to honor those cyclists who have been injured or killed while cycling, and to help raise awareness for motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roads. There are no registration fees or sponsors for the ride. It’s an easy, slow-paced (12 mph max) ride. Organizers ask participants to remain silent during the ride.

The Louisville ride will meet downtown at Witherspoon and Brook Streets at 6:45. The ride will begin promptly at 7:00. Helmets are required. For more information, contact Richard Heckler.

I plan to be there. I hope you’ll participate in your town also.

Today’s food journal:

— Chocolate, peanut butter, banana smoothie = 385 cal.

— Wendy’s spicy chicken sandwich = 430
— Iced tea = 10

— PB&J on whole wheat = 398
— small glass of low-fat chocolate milk = 180

— Skinny Cow ice cream cup = 120

Life is a journey. Enjoy the ride.
