Day 170: New Eastern Parkway bridge includes bike paths

22 06 2010

The Eastern Parkway bridge through the University of Louisville campus has finally reopened. After almost a year of construction mess and detours, the bridge reopened today. What was a busy four-lane road with sometimes dangerous traffic and no bike path, now has been rebuilt into two lanes to help limit traffic. The new $7.9 million bridge includes a median, pedestrian crosswalks and bike paths.

I’ve ridden across the bridge a few times in the past and found it to be a little intimidating, so I’m glad they included bike paths in the redesign. I plan to check them out the next time I ride that route. I’d embed the news station’s video here, but WordPress sucks and only allows embedding of Google and YouTube-hosted videos. Schmucks. Anyway, you can watch the video here.

Today’s food journal:

Breakfast:
— Organic low fat vanilla yogurt with granola = 450 cal.

Lunch:
— Grilled cheese sandwich on whole wheat = 431
— Chips (about 1/2 cup) = 60
— Diet Coke = 0

Dinner:
— Turkey sub = 280
— Diet Coke = 0
— Baked Lays chips = 45

Snack:
— Skinny Cow ice cream cup = 120

Life’s a journey. Enjoy the ride!
