Day 230: Soup By Cycle on FOX 41 TV

21 08 2010

One of the local TV stations had a nice story and video yesterday about Ian Ritchie, the Soup By Cycle guy I mentioned on Day 108. What started as a delivery service to his friends has expanded to deliveries throughout the Louisville area. Mondays he shops for the ingredients (fresh, local ingredients), Tuesdays he cooks and Wednesday through Friday he rides around town delivering his soup orders. He averages around 25 miles of cycling each day. I should note a correction to my previous post: deliveries are Wednesdays (delivery zone 1), Thursdays (zone 2) and Fridays (zone 3). I had posted incorrect days. And I even had a map to look at. Duh.

The weekly menu, pricing and ordering information is available on his Web site:

Today’s food journal:

— Whole wheat english muffin = 2 points
— 1 Tbsp peanut butter = 2 points
— Chocolate milk = 3 points

— Veggie chicken patty on Deli Flat bread = 4 p0ints
— Coke Zero = 0 points
— small apple = 1 point

— Grilled chicken sandwich (only ate 1/2 bun) = 4.5 points
— Aoli sauce = 6 points
— 1/2 cup wild rice = 1.5 points
— Iced tea = 0 points

— Weight Watchers peanut butter cup ice cream = 3 points

Exercise: (outdoor bike ride was rained out today). Despite the rain, it was nice to work out on the trainer for a change. (It’s been a while.) I forgot how much the indoor training kicks my butt. I may be too much of an out-of-shape wuss to try the Sufferfest videos I mentioned the other day. 😉
— 35 minutes on stationary trainer = +2 activity points

I went 7 points over my Weight Watchers allowance today. But I’m still doing okay with 23 weekly points remaining.

Life’s a journey. Enjoy the ride!
