Day 243: Mayor’s Labor Day Hike & Bike

3 09 2010

I’m looking forward to a three-day weekend of great weather, some bike riding and various events happening around town. WorldFest, a Bluegrass Festival, and one of my favorites — the Mayor’s Hike & Bike event which is held every Labor Day and Memorial Day.

The Memorial Day Hike & Bike was about 17 miles from Waterfront Park downtown out to Iroquois Park. The route for Monday’s ride will be 15 miles out to Shawnee Park. Should be about a 22-mile ride for us since we ride from home to the starting point. The weather is supposed to be fantastic this weekend – highs in the low to mid-80s, so it should be a perfect weekend to be outside. I’m not sure if we’ll make it to the Bluegrass Festival, but we’re planning to ride our bikes to WorldFest and the Hike & Bike.

Today’s food journal:

Breakfast:
— Chocolate, peanut butter, banana smoothie = 6.5 points

Lunch:
— Wendy’s spicy chicken sandwich (a guilty pleasure I haven’t eaten in a while, and yes I felt guilty afterwards) = 10 points
— Iced tea = 0 points

Dinner:
— Soft pretzel = 5.5 points
— Iced tea = 0 points

Snacks:
— Frozen fruit bar (no sugar added) = 1 point

Exercise:
— 45-minute dog walk = +2 activity points

Life’s a journey. Enjoy the ride.
