Day 245: Weekly Sunday ride

Carrick and I enjoyed a nice relaxing 15 mile ride today. We decided to make it a leisurely ride rather than a workout ride which was nice. The weather was perfect again today, so we took full advantage of it. We started out riding to the Audubon neighborhood (one of our favorite routes), then wandered through the UofL campus then downtown to Waterfront Park and back home. I’m on call for work this week, so I can’t really leave town, but was able to get in a good bike ride without ever straying too far from home. We saw some random odd things today on the ride, so I snapped a quick photo when traffic cleared. Here are a few photos and a map of the ride:

This was helpful. Probably not done by the city, but maybe a random act of kindness by a fellow cyclist?

 

Some joker (no, it wasn't us) put a hat and a "clean coal technology" t-shirt on one of the statues outside the public library where Carrick works. She climbed up there and took it down.

 

A close-up of the t-shirt. Coal by its very nature is dirty and in my opinion "clean coal" is nothing more than a buzzword invented by the coal industry to clean up its image. It's still the same filthy, polluting coal. Ok, I'll shut up now.

As I mentioned in Friday’s post, tomorrow is the bi-annual Mayor’s Hike & Bike event. We’re looking forward to being there! For those of you in the Louisville area, come join us! It’s going to be a great day! 

Today’s food journal: 

Breakfast:
— Whole wheat english muffin = 1 point
— 1 Tbsp peanut butter = 2 points
— 1 banana = 1.5 points 

Lunch:
— Morningstar Farms veggie “buffalo” chicken nuggets (5) = 4 points
— LF chocolate milk = 3 points 

Dinner:
— Small salad with ranch dressing = 4 points
— Soft pretzel = 6 points
— Iced tea = 0 points 

Snacks:
— 1/2 Builder Bar (during bike ride) = 2.5 points 

Exercise:
— 15 mile bike ride (easy pace) = +3 activity points
— 35 minute dog walk through Cherokee Park = +2 activity points 

Today I managed to wear a pair of shorts that I haven’t been able to wear in two years! They’re two waist sizes smaller than my usual size. My goal this week is to increase my exercise so hopefully come weigh-in day on Thursday, I’ll make it to my “7 pounds lost” goal.
