Day 278: Baxter Ave. Halloween Parade

8 10 2010

Just a quick post tonight. I’ve been up since 5:30 this morning for a photo shoot at work at 7, so it’s been a long, but fun day. Carrick and I went to the Baxter Avenue Halloween Parade tonight with her sisters, her nephew and her sister’s boyfriend. It was perfect weather and everyone seemed to have a good time.

This traffic cop (real, not a costume) was awesome. Before the parade started, a few cars drove beyond the barricades. She kept fussing at them until they turned around. Several times she received cheers from the crowd.

Highwheeler. Turned out a bit blurry, but I still liked the shot.

Carrick and her nephew, Sladen.

Kids enjoying the parade.

Pretty sure I don't want a ride from these people.

Morris and I enjoyed the pre parade area behind Mid-City Mall. The freak factor was high there as well as CO2 fumes from homemade floats. Shriners never sit quite right with me. The costumed dogs were very cute and patient. The large, trailered boat made me wonder what was really going on in it. Lots of Bud Lite cans… All and all another thing I love about my street and L’ville.

Glad you guys had fun. We missed the candy this year – we were farther down Baxter by Flanigan’s and they’d run out by then, I think. I loved the dogs. They were my favorite.
